These terms are between you and Reweave, Inc. (a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, EIN 46-1877873, 4 Teresa Dr, Milford, MA 01757, USA), who makes Chiku. By using the app you agree to them. If you are using the app for a child, you agree to them for the child.
What Chiku is
Chiku has two parts. chiku's kitchen is a game about food from around the world: a market, a fridge, a kitchen, words, recipes and where foods grow. My real fridge, behind the grown up door, keeps track of the dates you write for the food in your home and reminds you to look.
Chiku gives no advice about food
The real fridge only counts to the date you write. It never says whether food is good to eat, how to store it, how long it keeps, or when it turns. That call is always yours.
The game's facts about foods (where they grow, how they grow, their names, the dishes they become) are general information, checked against sources where the app says so, and marked "draft" where they are not yet checked. The game's recipes are for cooking with a grown up: the game's cooking is pretend, and the recipe book holds real recipes to cook at home, where a grown up does every step with a knife, the stove, hot oil, boiling water or a blender.
Chiku cannot answer questions about food safety, health, allergies or what a pet can eat. Please ask a doctor or a vet.
Children
The game is made to be safe for children to play. It has no ads, no account and no chat, and it asks nothing about who is playing. A grown up door stands before every purchase, every link out of the app, the grown up corner and the real fridge.
Your information
What you make in Chiku (your fridge, your game, your stickers, the names you type) stays on your phone. Reweave has no server that holds it. A photo you take in the app becomes a small sticker on your phone, and the photo itself is not kept. The privacy policy says more: chikudetective.org/privacy.
Purchases
The detective's kit and the kitchen pass are bought through Google Play or the App Store, and the store handles the payment, the receipts and any refund under its own rules. The monthly and annual plans renew automatically until you cancel, which you can do any time in your store account settings, at least 24 hours before the period ends. The lifetime kit is one payment. RevenueCat, our purchase service, keeps a record of the purchase so the app knows what is open; it keeps nothing about your food or your game.
Using Chiku fairly
Please use Chiku for yourself and your household, and do not copy, sell or take apart the app or its pictures. chiku, the foods' pictures, the words and the recipes as they appear in the app belong to Reweave.
If something goes wrong
We work hard to make Chiku reliable, but it is provided as it is. A reminder can fail to arrive if a phone's settings, battery or system stop it; the real fridge has a "test my whisper now" button so you can check. To the extent the law allows, Reweave is not responsible for any loss that comes from relying on the app, including any decision about food. Nothing in these terms takes away rights you have under the law where you live.
Changes
If we change these terms, we will update the date at the top of this page. Using Chiku after a change means you accept it.
