why a nonprofit makes a fridge app
Reweave builds small tools that make everyday life a little kinder. The first was SuperMoo, a movement app about getting up and moving without being shouted at. chiku is the second, and it brings the same idea to the kitchen: the problem is not discipline, it is memory, and nobody needs a subscription to a lecture.
Being a nonprofit changes the design brief. There is no growth team to feed, so there are no ads, no analytics, and no mechanics engineered to keep you opening the app. chiku wants to be opened for ten seconds and then left alone to keep watch.
how chiku is built
There is no server. Everything you put into chiku lives on your phone, reminders are scheduled on the device itself, and household sharing moves a file straight from one phone to another. This is not a policy we promise to follow, it is how the thing is physically constructed. The privacy policy is short because there is very little to say.
chiku the character was painted by hand. The scenes, the sounds and the type all live inside the app, so opening chiku touches no one’s servers except the app store’s own purchase check.
the deal
The whole core is free forever: unlimited items, every reminder, the weekly page, the full history. One optional purchase, the detective’s kit, adds tonight’s case, case notes, the daily round, the household and photos. Buying it funds maintenance and whatever Reweave builds next.
